Major Update! Development is finished! (for now)
I'm very excited to announce a major update for My Name is (Not) Alice! From new dialogue, music and revamped endings, to a completely new ending and a Memory System that tracks each of the seven endings you receive for a final message to the player, this post details each of the changes the new update brings!
First-off, debugging:
1) Fixed the issue mentioned in the last devlog that had to do with Betty's "Suspicion" message displaying as white text on certain passages.
2) Fixed a bug that caused audio to overlap after restarting the game, and sometimes break during the credits, causing the game to be completely silent.
3) Fixed a bug that caused the game to automatically end in failure if the player restarted after a certain ending.
4) Fixed a bug where some of the music fails to play when loading an earlier save.
Changes! (From biggest to smallest):
1) The Memory System: allows players to track the endings they receive and unlock a small message with each new ending. After finding all 7 Endings, players will also access a Final Dialogue.
2) New Ending for Beatrice: Added a new conditional ending for Beatrice for players to unlock. Comes with new passages and dialogue options.
3) Expanded Secret Ending: The secret ending is now much longer with even more lore!!
4) New Music!: Added two new musical scores to the game. Love them. Where do they play? I wonder...
5) Added new Newt passages/dialogue.
6) Minor changes to the writing of 50+ passages.
7) Tweaked Betty's Suspicion system to be more challenging.
8) Minor changes to the conditions required to reach Newt's True Ending /False Ending.
9) Added the ability to also select chapters with "Play Again" option on the Credits screen.
10) Added the main title animation to the Credits screen.
11) Credits screen music now changes depending on the last ending you received.
That pretty much wraps it up. My Name is (Not) Alice is officially out of development! I'll be keeping an eye on bugs over the next couple of days and I may return to this project at a later date, but at this point, I've accomplished everything I set out to do with the game.
